Dambulla cave temple complex

Dambulla cave temple was declared as a world heritage site in 1991.it is also known as the Rangiri viyaraya.(Ran means gold,giri means mountain, viharaya means temple) It is situated in Matale district 16km away from Glewela town and  148km away from colombo. Dambulla is the largest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka.It is about 160 m from the ground level.There are paintings and statues depicting the life of Buddha.There are also statues of god and kings.
