It is said that when a very ill patient is given a little juice from the leaves of this plant, the disease disappears. The leaves are also used to make valuable medicinal oils in Sri Lanka. The other specialty of this plant is that the small leaves under the big leaves rotate throughout the day. When any sound is heard, it can be observed that the leaves rotates rapidly. It is said that this plant has a special liking for music. When one walks near this plant, one can see the plant swinging. This may be why this plant is named as the dancing plant.
