Sankapala Raja Maha Viharaya Pallebadda Sri Lanka

Sankapala raja maha viharaya( sanka means big oyster, raja means king, maha means large, viharaya means temple)is situated in Pallebadda village Rathnapura district Sabaragamuwa province Sri Lanka.An inscription states that this is a very ancient temple.Its dates back to 2000 years.
Hitory says that   one of the ten great  warriors of king Dutugamunu was  Pussadeva became a buddhist monk at this place.It is belived that the big oyster used by the giant Pussadeva placed in this temple.
