Maligathanna Rajmaha Viharaya.Gampaha Wthurugama Road. Malwathuhiripitiya.

Maligathanna Rajmaha Viharaya located in Gampaha Wathuruwila Road,Malwathuhiripitiya.It is situated 8.5km awy from Gampaha,40km away from colombo,14km away from Nittabuwa.This has been identified as an archeological site.According to the inscriptions, this temple dates back to the Anuradhapura era.It is said that King Walagamba hid here to escape from the enemies.There are 2 more Rajamaha Viharas near this temple.they are PILIKUTHTHUW RAJAMAHA VIHARAY and Warana Rajamaha viharaya.There is a legend that the Tooth Relic was hidden in the Maligathenna Vihara before it was hidden in the Delgamuwa Rajamaha Vihara.There are two parts, the upper courtyard and the lower courtyard.When you go to the upper courtyard here you will find a double door.Going up to the upper courtyard here is a bit tiring.Going up to the upper courtyard you can see a beautiful view.When you go to the upper courtyard, you can look around from a 360 degree angle.In the upper courtyard you can see the city of Colombo, the Lotus Tower, the port of Colombo and the sea.
